This chapter lists supplemental information to the _I_R_I_S
_S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e. The information listed here is

The Netscape Media Server includes these subsystems:
_n_s__m_e_d_i_a._s_w._s_e_r_v_e_r The operating software and
configuration files for the
Netscape Media Server.
_n_s__m_e_d_i_a._m_a_n._r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s These release notes.
2.2 _N_e_t_s_c_a_p_e__M_e_d_i_a__S_e_r_v_e_r__S_u_b_s_y_s_t_e_m__D_i_s_k__S_p_a_c_e__R_e_q_u_i_r_e_m_e_n_t_s
This section lists the subsystems (and their sizes) of
ns_media.
If you are installing this product for the first time, the
subsystems marked ``default'' are the ones that are
installed if you use the ``go'' menu item. To install a
different set of subsystems, use the ``install,''
``remove,'' ``keep,'' and ``step'' commands in _i_n_s_t to
customize the list of subsystems to be installed, then
select the ``go'' menu item.
Note: The listed subsystem sizes are approximate. Refer to
the _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for information
on finding exact sizes.
Subsystem Name Subsystem Size

2.4 _P_r_e_r_e_q_u_i_s_i_t_e_s
Your system must be running _I_R_I_X _6._2 _o_r _g_r_e_a_t_e_r in order to
run _n_s__m_e_d_i_a _1._0.
_N_e_t_s_c_a_p_e _M_e_d_i_a _1._0 requires _f_l_e_x_l_m license software
_l_i_c_e_n_s_e__e_o_e._s_w._l_i_c_e_n_s_e__e_o_e version 2.0.1 and
_l_i_c_e_n_s_e__e_o_e._s_w._f_l_e_x_l_m__u_t_i_l_s version 2.0.1
_N_e_t_s_c_a_p_e _M_e_d_i_a _1._0 requires ns_admin.sw.server 2.0 version
1223421800 or greater.
2.5 _C_o_n_f_i_g_u_r_a_t_i_o_n__F_i_l_e_s
Configuration files for the server are found in /_u_s_r/_n_s-
_h_o_m_e/_l_m_s_p_d-<_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e>/_c_o_n_f_i_g.
The Media server is started, stopped and configured
automatically by the script /_e_t_c/_i_n_i_t._d/_n_s__m_e_d_i_a.
2.6 _F_i_l_e_s__N_o_t__L_i_s_t_e_d__b_y__vvvv_eeee_rrrr_ssss_iiii_oooo_nnnn_ssss
After successful installation with the correct license, the
file /_u_s_r/_n_s-_h_o_m_e/_b_i_n/_l_m_s_p_d/_n_s-_l_m_s_p_d will be created. This
file is not part of the installed image. The encrypted
version of this file, /_u_s_r/_n_s-_h_o_m_e/_b_i_n/_l_m_s_p_d/_n_s-
_l_m_s_p_d._e_n_c_r_y_p_t_e_d was installed and then removed after
successful decryption.
The initial installation includes two generically named
directories, /_u_s_r/_n_s-_h_o_m_e/_l_m_s_p_d-%%_H_O_S_T_N_A_M_E%% and /_u_s_r/_n_s-
_h_o_m_e/_a_d_m_s_e_r_v/_l_m_s_p_d-%%_H_O_S_T_N_A_M_E%%. Each of these directories
contain files and/or sub-directories. The exitops rename
these directories to the names corresponding to the host on
which the product is installed. These newly named
directories and their files are not listed by _vvvv_eeee_rrrr_ssss_iiii_oooo_nnnn_ssss. The
names of the directories are of the form:
/_u_s_r/_n_s-_h_o_m_e/_l_m_s_p_d-<_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e>
2.7 _G_e_n_e_r_a_l__I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__I_n_f_o_r_m_a_t_i_o_n
2.7.1 _F_i_n_a_l__I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__I_n_f_o_r_m_a_t_i_o_n The Netscape Server
products share a common administration server when more than
one Netscape Server is installed on the same machine. This
administration server must be running in order to administer
your Netscape Server. Upon installation this administration
server is not configured to automatically restart when the
system is rebooted If you wish the server to be started on
reboot then do the following:
#### cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg nnnnssss____aaaaddddmmmmiiiinnnn oooonnnn
- 3 -
If you do not do this, then you will have to start the
administration server by hand in order to administer your
server. To start the server by hand execute the following
command:
#### ////uuuussssrrrr////nnnnssss----hhhhoooommmmeeee////ssssttttaaaarrrrtttt----aaaaddddmmmmiiiinnnn
2.8 _A_d_d_i_t_i_o_n_a_l__D_o_c_u_m_e_n_t_a_t_i_o_n
